Love Street Fighter? Eat at Chun Li Dumpling House!

Chun Li restaurant is very cute. It’s much smaller than I thought, but they have two locations near each other, and I believe I went to the smaller one.

Their actual address is:

C. de las Fuentes, 1, local izquierdo

28013 Madrid ( España )

And

Calle Toledo, 28 B

28005 Madrid España

They had several tables open when I arrived, but it was only a short time after I came that every table was full for lunch. I walked in around 3:30 p.m.

I should mention their hours are 13:00-16:30 and 20:00-23:30 during the week, but they keep it continually open on weekends.

Ordering

They give you a magic marker and a menu. Mark the items you want next to the item you want. Or you can put the amount of orders for that item you’d like.

The Food at Chun Li Restaurant

I wanted to get everything on the menu, but they had a lunch special. And I was seduced by their great pricing. And also, I don’t want to be wasteful and order too much food.

This lunch special consisted of a salad, two orders of dumplings, and a drink for €13.

Each dumpling order consisted of 10 dumplings, meaning 20 dumplings total plus your side salad and your drink. It’s actually a lot of food.

I got the beef and onion steamed dumplings and the chicken and cabbage fried dumplings. The salad I ordered was a cucumber salad and water to drink.

I love the concept of having a video game-inspired restaurant. Chun Li is one of the best characters in Street Fighter, but if I’m being honest, I wish they had more Street Fighter decor.

You can’t tell from my pictures, but one order of dumplings was pink, and the other was lavender-colored.

The bright red neon lights next to me made everything slightly red, though.

The Service

The service is speedy. The waiters are very attentive but quite busy. Similar to an American restaurant. However, this style of waiting tables is not the norm here.

I want to say this is an American restaurant tactic, and I was surprised to find that they did the same thing. Many European countries are known for their leisurely restaurant pacing.

The Decor at Chun Li Restaurant

They have a sign at the front that says Chun Li.

They have a mural of Chun Li painted on the main entry wall and many smaller items, like the menu, and small Street Fighter items on the pillars representing Chun Li, but that’s it.

The restaurant itself is very tiny. It probably has, at the most, 10 tables, and from those 10 tables, three of them sit a single person.

Apart from feeling a little gimmicky, I loved it and thought it was well worth the visit.

This sign was right next to me, and it was making everything red.

Done Eating at Chun Li Restaurant

When I was done, I thanked the waiter, took pictures for this blog post, and parted ways.

I was very glad I came.

Let’s break it down:

If you like video games, especially older games like Street Fighter, come to Chun Li restaurant and get some dumplings. Although it’s a novel concept, having dumplings for lunch is always a plus in my book.

Prices are reasonable. I paid 13 Euros for my lunch special. It came with 20 dumplings, a salad and a drink.

I was disappointed that there wasn’t more Street Fighter decor, but that’s a “me” thing.

I think it’s worth a visit!
