So, you’re in LA on vacation and you want to have a good time but you also want to do things you can only do in LA! That’s where this little dessert place comes in. It’s called Snow Monster. Although I have to say, it doesn’t really have anything to do with monsters. Snow Monster is an ice cream shop that makes ice cream sandwiches, drinks and turns them into a unique and sweet experience.

This monstrosity is born and raised in Southern California (Irvine California to be exact) which makes it a unique experience for any tourist looking for something they’ll only find in Los Angeles (or OC.)
Although, I’m not a food or dessert blogger, I enjoy finding unique things to find in any city, and Snow Monster wet my appetite for unique desserts in my hometown.
I’ve only been to the Long Beach location but I can assure you it’s sleek, modern and they encourage the dessert monster in everyone.
The Prices
Although, it’s not the cheapest place it’s not super pricey either. Each ice cream sandwich is $5. The drinks differ in price. You can also buy their reusable jars.
The best part is they’re turning the Long Beach location into a proper cafe. Meaning, they are now serving coffee! Yes! Yummy!

My Experience at Snow Monster
The interesting thing at their Long Beach location is it doesn’t say what it is. Their logo is bold and amazing but it could be anything. I thought it was a different type of shop until I walked by and looked through the windows. It’s an ice cream and boba shop.
I walk in and the modern but minimal design is very well done. The entire place is an open floor plan with a loft at the end. The wall in the back reads “ Eat dessert, be a monster!”
Since it was my first time here, I had to learn the process.
The ice cream sandwiches are great but it’s a growing trend in the City of Angels. You choose a delicious macaron. They have multiple flavors, colors and fun decorated ones as well. I can assure you the turkey Macaron does not taste like turkey!
I chose a strawberry one because it was shaped like the logo. Next, you
choose the type of ice cream you want. I chose vanilla as my first time. Although, I’m a fan of ice cream, I’m more of a boba fan!
Their boba drinks range from traditional Thai ice tea to Mexican horchata. I had to try horchata with boba! I’ve never heard of Mexican/Asian fusion like this. It intrigued me. I needed to try this.
Los Angeles is a giant melting pot with cultures and cuisines from all over the world. It’s only natural that the mixing of cultures is also reflected in the foods and desserts.
Also, you can choose to purchase one of their adorable reusable Snow Monster jars. They have one that looks like a giant light bulb! I love them!
I order and wait. They call my name and I eagerly rush to get my ice cream sandwich and my boba drink. I sit and take my first bite. The strawberry color of my macaron smears all over my fingers and the ice cream starts to melt as I take a bite of it.
It’s sweet. It’s cold and it’s gigantic. The macaron ice cream sandwich is bigger than I thought. It’s about the size of a small hamburger.
I take a swig of my horchata filled with boba and realize this is a meal in itself but I’m glad I’m sitting here, eating this sandwich and drinking my horchata.
Let Me Break It Down For You:
Is this place worth it? If you have a sweet tooth or love boba, then YES. Although, I have to be honest I don’t have a sweet tooth and my choice in Macaron was too much for me. I picked the strawberry flavored one.
This place is cute as hell! I love the Snow Monster logo and minimal decor. I love the reusable jars.
Their horchata is good. Although it was just horchata with boba, I always enjoy a great cup of horchata and boba.
Ice cream sandwiches are $5 each
What I love most about this place is it’s uniqueness and novelty. They’re doing so well they’ve become a small chain.
You can find them all over LA and Orange County.
