I walked to Camden Market for a statue of Amy Winehouse. I seriously thought this statue might be in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by absolutely nothing. I’m also aware that in the area there’s a cafe I’m dying to try. I say dying because its called the Cereal Killer Cafe, and if there is one thing you should know about me is that I “heart” learning about serial killers and the lore that surrounds them.
Therefore I thought a cafe that serves cereal and calls itself the Cereal Killer Cafe is absolutely exciting and right up my alley.
Although, now that I’m at Camden Market taking pictures of the Amy Winehouse statue, I’m not entirely sure I know where this Cereal Killer Cafe is, or if I really want to find it.
According to Google maps, it’s one market over. Considering I have a lousy sense of direction, I’m not sure I’m up for this adventure.
So I stand and relax for a bit. I contemplate my next move. Looking around, I see the masses going to and fro. I see people entering a cafe in the lower portion of the Stables Market. As I watch, I notice the sign “Cereal Killer Cafe.”
It’s here, and I can find out what it’s all about.
The Cereal Killer Cafe in All Its glory
I should’ve know It would be tiny. The line is out the door. I take a peek inside to see employees in prisoner outfits, spider webs hanging from the ceiling. Zombie masks on the walls. Dexter and other cereal killer posters on the walls made the place feel fun.
Considering it’s near Halloween, I’m sure a place that calls itself the Cereal Killer Cafe is going to go overboard on the Halloween decor.
It consists of spiders all over the walls, bloody handprints, and all the Halloween decorations you can think of in a tiny little space.
I decide to wait in line because I’m already here, I might as well see what it’s all about. Even though I’m full from a meal, I had before coming here.Â
The line
I’m 12th in line, and the line is moving very slow. I suppose it’s more complicated than I thought. You choose your cereal, you select your type of milk and any toppings you may desire.
It seriously took like 30 minutes or more for me to get up to the register.
Once I got there, I ordered a cereal-based coffee because I’m stuffed. I can’t continue to be this American fatty that I am. Also, this is a cafe, I can get coffee darn it!
Cereal Killer Cafe and The Hidden Room!
As I stood in line waiting for my turn to order, I noticed customers going behind a veil of cobwebs and tattered fabric. The doorway was hardly visible. Considering, it’s pitched dark on the other side.
Is it an employee-only room? Why are customers going back there? Do they work here too but happen to be off shift?
Hidden under spiderwebs, I see a sign that reads, “Only paid customers beyond this point.” In other words, that’s the actual cafe part.
I order my drink, an iced coffee with non-dairy milk. They give me a cute VHS case of the movie Duets as an identifier.
It’s fantastic back here.
There are dead bodies (zombies) with dead babies. I’m guessing this was all Halloween decor, and they don’t usually have these bodies here all year round. I could be wrong though, if you’re here when it’s not Halloween message me, I want to know if the bodies/zombies are still there.
The decor is over the top spooky. They’re playing the Monster Mash in the background. It’s so appropriate.
It’s really dark. Other than a few red and green lights near the back of the room. The display cases on the walls have boxes of many kinds of cereal.
Some cases near the front have toys and movie cases.
If I had friends that loved the same weird stuff I did, it would be fun to bring them here. I think it’s a place to hang out and have a bowl of cereal and some coffee.
The Cereal Killer Cafe is so cute! I loved every bit of it. They even have a wall to take selfies in front of.
I didn’t take one.
My Cereal Killer Cafe Coffee
I got my coffee, and it was just regular coffee. It had sprinkles of cereal in it. I realize I should’ve gotten a milkshake or something. I was somewhat disappointed.
However, that’s not to say I didn’t love the Cereal Killer Cafe or the coffee I got.
Next time I just have to go hungry and try more things on their menu.
Let me break it down for you:
Do I recommend the Cereal Killer Cafe? Yes. Not only is it fun, but it’s fun to have a bowl of cereal and a cup of coffee in a serial killer themed cafe.
The lines might be a little long.
The prices are good.
Bring your friends here!
