Garbo Piano Bar| A Gay Bar Review | Puerto Vallarta

Garbo Piano bar is great. However, my first impression made me think I wouldn’t like it. Perhaps I’m just aging, perhaps my jadedness is catching up with me, but sometimes, I go to a place and I’m just reminded of other places. But I have to say Garbo’s talent and friendly staff won me over.

Garbo reminds me of a Piano bar back home that recently shut. Although the place I’m referring to was not a good bar, Garbo is worth a try, especially if you’re on vacation.

I should mention, the night I was here was piano night. We had a show by a great piano player who turned modern songs into a great piano-style adaptation. I love that. It’s always fun to hear Marylin Manson sung that way. It gives it a funny twist and makes you appreciate the song in a totally different way.

The space is great, with plenty of tables and lounge areas. It also has a menu, so you can order some food. The talent is excellent. The food is tasty. But if there is one complaint it’s that I wish it didn’t remind me of piano bars back home. Sometimes I want something extra if I’m going to visit a gay bar in a faraway land.

The wait staff is cute, flirty, and attentive. My waiter confused me for someone else and kept apologizing. He apologized for his behavior the night before and just wanted me to know that he was sorry. I had no idea what he meant, I even told him I wasn’t there the night before but he didn’t believe me. He paid extra attention to me and made sure to always get me a new drink. He definitely earned a good tip.

I only had two drinks at this place. I just wanted to check out the scene. After each song the pianist sang, he passed out a tip bucket. We tipped. Paid our bill and decided to head back to Club Sapphire for the night.

Let Me Break It Down For you

  • Garbo is a piano bar
  • They have different artists on different nights.
  • Waiters are cute and flirty
  • It’s a lounge/bar type of place
  • They have a menu
  • Tip the artists and the waiters.

To be honest, I’m not really a fan of piano bars. But Garbo won me over. Head here for a drink or two and make your way over to another bar for the night. Let’s keep the bar crawl moving and take the party somewhere else!

Would I come back to Garbo? Maybe. What do you think of Garbo? I would love to know.
