I walked around for a while before I realized I was starving. I checked out several local spots in the neighborhood of Salamanca. My eyelids are getting heavy. Am I hungry or sleepy? My body is having a battle between two powerful forces. On one hand, sleepiness will make me collapse on the streets of Madrid. I have no shame. I will freaking sleep here! On the other hand, I will eat your left arm. I turned corner upon corner until I realized I was lost. That’s until I saw a bright sign and a cute space: DINGO Madrid! It looks like I died and went to chic restaurant heaven.
DINGO Madrid is located at Calle de Velázquez, 47, 28001 Madrid in the neighborhood of Salamanca. It’s industrial on all aspects. It’s open space and mosaic tiles are perfect. The restaurant has aged wood and metal fans behind the bar. The old literature on its shelves is atmospheric. On one had it’s modern but on the other hand it’s old.
I ordered a water to start. I’m so thirsty, it’s strange. It’s not even hot outside. I just want some food and a bed. Can someone feed me in bed? Is that too hard to understand? Yes, would be the answer.
I gulp down the water and look over the menu. The service is speedy. I almost expected a long leisurely service. I prepared my brain to sit here for a few hours before I located my bed again.
The Food
The menu is diverse. It has a bit of everything. You can order Spanish favorites like Jamon Iberico or hamburgers. They also had breakfast items all day. It was around 10pm at this point.
You can order wines or beers from their bar. They have tapas and pinchos. There are plenty of salad options.
The Dingo Burger looks delicious. My only questions: is it made from real Dingo? I don’t care, just cook it so I can eat it. It’s actually made of beef, don’t worry guys, I didn’t just eat random Australian wild dog here.
It had melted goat cheese and brie. The beef patty was perfect. Caramelized onions oozed out of the hamburger when I picked it up. This is going to be tough to eat without looking like a haven’t eaten anything… ever.
Claude ordered Eggs Benedict on sourdough bread and a salad. My meal came with fries. I’m not a fan of potatoes but I had a few.
Dingo Madrid is a long restaurant. It’s beautifully decorated. I love it. It’s different. Unique. The open ceilings exposing the vents add to its ambiance.
The waiters wore overalls as uniforms. It’s a unique touch. Not sure I will ever wear one but it’s cute to see them wear it.
The prices are decent. My burger is 13 Euros. It’s not the cheapest but also not too expensive.
This is the type of restaurant you want to linger in. You can also try every dish on the menu. It all sounds good.
Let Me Break It Down For You:
