Capilano Suspension Bridge Review | Should You Go?

I scheduled a trip to Capilano Suspension Bridge the next day. I looked up the free bus shuttle service schedule and headed right for it. If you haven’t read my article on how to get around Vancouver, you’ll see some information on the free shuttle that takes you to the suspension bridge.

I walk to the hotel. It’s about half a mile.

The weather is cold and semi-rainy. I found it wasn’t cold enough to not sweat while briskly walking around. My thick sweaters became annoying and unwanted. Although, as soon as I stopped walking, I was cold again.

We stopped at other hotels and locations to pick people up and we took off.

The shuttle driver entertained us through the drive. We drove over the bridge to North Vancouver. They told us the bridge doubles as the San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge in movies. It’s also the main star of Final Destination 5, where they all fall off the bridge.

I should tell you, I pre-purchased my Capilano Suspension Bridge ticket on their website a few days before this. I paid about $45 CAD for the e-ticket. You should also know that I didn’t have wi-fi service when I arrived, therefore I took a screenshot of my ticket so they can scan it when I arrived. When they scanned my ticket it didn’t work. Apparently, the scanners can’t read screenshots well. However, the nice person at the counter allowed me to join their wi-fi network and print out my actual ticket so they can scan it. I was a little embarrassed. Live and learn, I guess.

Tip: Make sure to print out your Capilano Suspension Bridge Ticket before you arrive. The scanner doesn’t always read screenshots.

The Capilano Suspension Bridge Experience

Selfie time!

The Capilano Suspension Bridge, which is more of an Eco-Tourist park has a few attractions to see. There’s a fun walkway suspended over a cliff. It gives you a sense of how high you are. The cliff side, rocks and trees make the setting beautiful. It’s scary if you’re scared of heights… Although, I didn’t think so… The park is well done. I recommend it. Apart from that, there are a couple of well-made attractions across the actual Capilano Suspension Bridge.

It’s funny how I didn’t realize a suspension bridge is actually suspended in the air, which means it sways as you walk across it. It’s a little scary to feel it sway side-to-side as I walked. Some people like to rock-it or jump to make the bridge move more. It made it fun and daring, actually. However, there is no chance of danger.

Fun fact: The bridge can hold the weight of five elephants.

The view from the bridge

Across the Capilano Suspension Bridge is a set of smaller bridges that go from tree to tree. They called this section the Tree Top Adventure. The light decor made the experience glow beautifully.

I walked from tree to tree like I was 12 again, in my own private tree house. It was magical. My dream of flying with fairies through the trees became a reality here. It’s gorgeous. They really know how to make this a top attraction.

I loved it. It wasnt easy capturing how amazing I thought this place is…

The only drawback is the crowd. It’s very crowded. I was here in the off-season too. Beware the summer time. It’s going to get mobbed.

I heard of another suspension bridge further down the line that’s not as touristy. Perhaps next time, I’ll venture to that one.

A Little Extra

On the other side of the Tree Top Adventure, there’s a small lake. This area was partly sectioned off for reconstruction of some sort. I’m not sure what they’re going for, but it made me feel like a tiny, minuscule, infinitesimal speck of a human compared to the giants surrounding me. The trees that will out-live us, stood tall. The lake glowed beautifully. The round and semi-lit lights that almost resemble giant water droplets reflected off the water like I was in a  fairy tale.

I was here alone, which gave me time to reflect on my life. I learned that getting lost in Vancouver is part of learning about myself. It left me breathless and hungry for more.

Let Me Break It Down For You:

I thought the overall experience was magical. They have fun art. A couple of totem poles near the bridge make for great pictures. The views from the bridge and edge-walk are spectacular. The chill in the air is perfect. There are plenty of spots with plaques explaining the natural occurrences of this eco-friendly attraction. It’s educational.

The only drawback is the crowd. Many people venture here.

I paid $45 CAD to enter. To be honest, I thought I was just going to see a bridge in mid-air. The entire experience blew me away with its beauty.

Do I recommend the Capilano Suspension Bridge? YES. It’s was definitely worth it. I recommend it.
