BoyBerry Berlin Review (And Some Personal Opinions)

The locals call it the Gay McDonalds. That may sound like a good thing because McDonald’s is known for cheap, quick, and easy food, but in this context, it stands for all the bad things a large corporation stands for, like stale, uniform, and uncharacteristic.

You know my opinion on BoyBerry Madrid. So when I went to BoyBerry Berlin, I took Rasmus because I already had a bias. And I want to give you a proper review of this place. Essentially, I want you to know why you should go and if you should go.

But first, a venue review and walkthrough of the venue.

BoyBerry Berlin, the Venue and First Impressions

Cute Boyberry Berlin coasters. It’s a nice touch.

When Tom’s closed down, Boyberry didn’t hesitate to jump in the open space. The venue itself is very cute. They’ve opened the space up and turned it into an open floor plan. It looks spacious compared to how Tom’s had it.

The walls are painted green with stencils of berries and peaches. The windows are bigger, allowing light into the space.

The bartenders are all around 20 years old, thin, cute, and talkative. They are very nice.

Oh, and they open at 6 pm now. The venue is on brand for BoyBerry. It looks and feels like BoyBerry Madrid.

The Men and Demographics

With a name like BoyBerry, it’s no surprise that a younger demographic would flock here. It was young guys in their 20s and guys who admired them.

It looked like many of them were tourists, with a few locals mixed in.

I would say most of the guys here were in their 20s and 30s—very few in their 40s and even less in their 50s. But yes, there was a little bit of everything.

The bartenders were so sweet. We chatted with one for a while and even exchanged numbers. They really help create a friendly atmosphere.

The Darkroom at BoyBerry Berlin

Now comes the real test. What is their darkroom like? As you walk past the plastic curtain, you enter a game room. There’s a foosball table, another coat check, and some TVs on the wall, just like Tom’s.

The old Tom’s sign is on display near the restroom, paying homage to the past.

Past this, there’s a giant dark maze full of glory holes and private cabins.

Rasmus and I ventured into this room many times but found nothing. Others came in here and looked through the holes, but no one got anywhere with each other. Perhaps there weren’t a lot of people tonight. Maybe we needed to come on a weekend.

So we ventured down to the old Tom’s dungeon. It was updated a bit, but it is still dark, as Tom used to have it. At least it feels clean. That’s always a plus.

Men came in, stood, and watched but did not make moves on anyone.

Maybe they’re shy. So I made my move on a couple of men, but I was rejected each time.

They really made Boyberry Berlin look like BoyBerry Madrid. It’s on brand and it’s cute.

I don’t understand. What are these guys looking for? Mister perfect? Their fantasy men? The one that got away?

And when everything else was failing, at least I had Rasmus with me. So I got on my knees, pulled out Rasmus Beercan, and began to slobber all over it.

This changed the ambiance a bit. But not enough.

Confused but wanting to know when this place is good, I asked our new bartender friend when to return. He told me that any day after 10 pm is full, but weekends especially.

Rasmus and I made a plan to come back on a busy night and report back on it.

So, how did it go during the busy night? Everything will be revealed in the Gay Berlin travel guide for 2025.

Let’s Break it Down:

BoyBerry Berlin was kind of a letdown. We went on a non-busy night. I returned on a very busy night to see how things went down.

The men are younger here.

Most guys are standoffish in the darkroom but friendly near the bar area.

I’m not sure this place is going to become a cruising place. It may just be a bar for you and your friends. Or maybe Berlin is changing and becoming less sexually intense?

I had a nice chat with the bartender about the sex scene in Berlin and why he thinks it’s changing. It made me come up with a theory about Boyberry, but if you want to know about it, I’ll leave it in the gay Berlin Travel Guide 2025.
