Ecuador is currently open to American tourists. As long as you get a negative covid result within 10 days of arrival, you can enter the country. So for my partner’s birthday trip, we decided to head to Quito, Ecuador. As we searched for places to stay, we found a hotel in Quito, Ecuador, that’s so unique and luxurious we couldn’t wait to experience it first hand. It’s called the Old Town Quito Suites.
The Old Town Quito Suites are located in the old town of Quito, Ecuador, but walking distance to many surrounding areas. In other words, it’s centrally located, but the hotel itself is so cute, it makes you want to stay in and enjoy your gorgeous and unique surroundings.
There are many great things about the Old Town Quito Suites, but I enjoyed learning the building’s history. As it turns out, this hotel was a mansion. It was then restored and turned into a hotel.
Old Town Quito Suites has many rooms to choose from with different characteristics and sizes. We chose the 1000 square foot open space suite called Nine Arches.
A Few Things I Should Mention
This hotel has an airport pick up service. It’s $35 each way. It’s very convenient considering the airport is about 45 miles from Quito’s old town.
Dirk, the owner, is very helpful. He is very attentive and very nice. He is very resourceful and will recommend restaurants and sites for you to see. Allow him to make reservations to restaurants or even book a car service to your site seeing destination.
Dirk is a hospitable individual. He brings you warm croissants for breakfast every morning and will even have your laundry done if you wish.
The Essentials— Review of our Old Town Quito Suites Experience
It’s not enough to say our room is gorgeous. It’s sleek, modern yet vintage, cozy, and artistic. It has a rustic charm with an old-world feel.
Upon entering the door, you’re immediately inside the dining room section of the hotel room. There’s a table for four with a fruit bowl for you to eat.
The wooden floor shines with polish, and the drapes across the floor-to-ceiling glass entrance is charming.
Directly in front of the dining room table, you see a beautiful, stylish, modern European kitchen. Its equipped with everything you need.
You have a dishwasher, an electric stove, a microwave, a coffee pot, and a full-size refrigerator.
The suite has dishes, pans, utensils, mugs, and cups. However, it also comes with certain essentials. They give you a giant jug of filtered water. Other than the croissants, you are also given warm baked bread every morning. The refrigerator has eggs, ham, cheese, milk, juice, and yogurt.
To top things off, there’s a free bottle of red wine waiting for you.
Nice Arches
If you make a right upon entering the suite and go past the arch, you will find yourself in the living room area. This room is beautiful. The brick wall finish is stunning. The LCD fireplace is cute and modern but also looks incredible in this room. It also gives off heat, which is pretty fun.
The living room has cute seats (shaped like sea snails.) I loved sitting here with the warm blankets they provided. I sat here and read the book I brought with me (Father of Lies.)
The couch in the living room is also a day bed. Although the couch is beautiful and rustic, the pillows fell through each time I tried sitting on it. In other words, it has absolutely no back support. Therefore, if you’re trying to relax, it’s best to sit in the turquoise sea snail seats.
The flat-screen TV is also located in this room along with a couple of coves. I’m not too sure about this, but I believe it’s called Nine Arches because this room has nine arches in it. However, the entire suite has more than nine.
The restroom is also located to the left of the living room. It has everything you need. There are towels, toiletries, tissue, and a shower (no tub.)
The entire place has free wifi as well. Although I should mention, the wifi is a little iffy. It worked great when I arrived but then switched from very slow during the day to fast at night.
The Bedroom
From the living room, the bedroom is at the opposite end. It has a queen-sized bed, two side tables with reading lights and a chair.
The bedroom has a wardrobe for your clothing and built-in shelves within the bedroom’s arches. There is plenty of storage space for all your belongings.
This suite is so gorgeous it made me feel like royalty inside my castle. It felt amazing staying here. The Quito weather was rainy most of the time I was here and staying in this room with a warm blanket wrapped around me while I sipped my coffee made my day.
If there is one complaint I have, I would say, I wish there were regular pillows for the day bed. I have a tough time sleeping so I switched from the bedroom to the day bed during my stay. However, the pillows that come with the day bed are square and bulky and couldn’t really be used under your head at night.
PS. I left my book (Father of Lies) hidden inside this room with a note in it. Can you find it?
