A Gay Guide for Madrid, Spain’s Mornings
With big gay cities like Madrid, sometimes it’s hard to know where to start. So here is a sample itinerary I’ve conjured up, a gay guide for Madrid, Spain, to consider. It goes from morning to morning. Yes, an all-day gay itinerary.
Ok, let’s get this day started.
La Kama Café
Once upon a time, I walked across the street after realizing I had woken up too late for breakfast at my hostel. I ordered a coffee and a croissant. It was all I needed. I was mostly there for coffee, but I noticed most clientele were gay men and their female counterparts. It was a lively bunch. And I was happy now that I was filled with coffee. I was also glad to be supporting a gay establishment.
This place is also owns a nightclub with a similar name, LaKama, by the way.
La Polleria

If you want some thick penis gushing in your mouth as an afternoon snack, come to La Polleria. They are tasty waffles on a stick that are shaped like penises. You have your choice of vanilla, chocolate, or strawberry creams.
The employees are also very friendly, and some even pretend to be embarrassed as they serve you a giant penis on a stick. Its fun.
Evening Drinks and Socialization
If you want to take the party to a bar for the early evening here are a few gay bars to hit before the night really gets started.
Hot

Hot is a bear bar with a friendly atmosphere. It also skews older. Come here with your group of friends and make more friends, have some cocktails, and socialize until your heart’s content.
Hot has a darkroom, but every time I’ve gone, even when it’s super busy, it’s not as used as other bars in Madrid.
One more thing, Hot always has a line wrapped around the block. That’s because most patrons come here right after work hours. If you want to avoid the line, it’s better to go later, but that also means it will be less busy.
El 12
El 12 is directly across the street from Hot, and it’s a very fun place to check out. It’s a lot younger than Hot, and there’s a dancefloor.
The music is typically top 40 and sometimes 80s and 90s classics, remixed so you can dance to them. The crowd is friendly and talkative.
I’ve danced here with friends, and it’s always a good time. I enjoy this place a lot.
Nighttime: Dancing and Mingling at Madrid’s Best Gay Bars
Madrid has tons of gay bars. You can dance the night away, spend it within a clothing-optional venue, or make friends while sipping on a drink. It depends on what you’re looking for.
Thick
Thick is a great bar where you can boogie later in the night. So if you’re interested in hopping from an evening bar like Hot or El 12, come to Thick afterward.
The great thing about the gay nightlife in Madrid is that there are many venues to choose from, even more than what I’m mentioning here. But that’s why I wrote a gay Madrid travel guide that’s about 250 pages worth of bars, clubs, darkrooms, wild gay parties, clothing-optional parties, and everything you’re looking for in a gay guide for Madrid Spain.
Late Night: Hitting the Dance Floors at Madrid’s Gay Clubs
From nighttime bars to late-night bars, Madrid’s nightlife can go on long and far.
Ricks
Ricks doesn’t open until midnight. So, if you want to keep your night going, come here. This smaller gay bar is great and often plays the 80s and more nostalgic songs their patrons love.
And there are many places that don’t open until late, just like Ricks.
But what if you want to continue the night past 2 a.m.? Let’s discuss that next.
After-Hours: Where to Go When the Clubs Close
Madrid has “after-hours” clubs and parties as well as venues that are open til the early morning. Although these next clubs are not really “after-hours” clubs, they don’t get busy until two or three in the morning. Therefore, after you’re done dancing and making friends, come here.
Strong Madrid
If you still have energy after dancing, come to Strong Madrid. This venue is famous for its big dancefloor and wild parties. Open until the early morning, it attracts hardcore party-goers who don’t want the night to end. With pulsating beats and an anything-goes atmosphere, it’s the final stop for Madrid’s dedicated night owls.
They also have a HUGE darkroom where people play well into the morning. You’ll love it here. For an even more crowded and intense (in a good way) environment come when they’re having one of their signature parties like Odarko or Into the Tank.
Sauna Paraiso

On weekends, Sauna Paraiso is open 24/7. This means you can leave Club Strong at six in the morning and head to Sauna Paraiso and find many (and I do mean many) gay men here who come here after they’re done partying at the club.
This can either be a way to relax or end the night. Offering steam rooms, private cabins, and a sociable crowd, it’s a popular destination for those seeking some post-clubbing relaxation and more *wink wink*.
