Puerto Vallarta is a great Mexican holiday destination. However, the Puerto Vallarta romantic zone, or the gay zone, can be a total gaycation party spot!
Other than lounging on the beach and having great food, you can bar-hop across multiple gay venues. You can sit and lounge or dance the night away in the gay clubs.
Puerto Vallarta Romantic Zone Gay Itinerary
Although I didn’t get to hit all the gay bars, I managed to get into Bar Anonimo, a cute little place painted with bright colors. I got there early, like 2 pm early. This place is very busy at night. It’s so tiny you won’t fit once it’s full. Get there EARLY and get ready to socialize before your shoulders start rubbing together.
I lounged a lot at the “exclusive” Sapphire Club. It’s primarily a gay hotel, but you don’t have to be gay to lounge here. You have to reserve a chaise lounge in advance because they reserve them for the people in the hotel. I managed to share two bottles of Champagne and lose my speedos in the pool as I jumped in. Luckily people were more interested in their tan than what was going on in the pool.
The great thing about the Puerto Vallarta romantic zone is how close all the venues are to each other. By the time I hit Blue Chairs, I was pretty wasted. I’ve heard mixed reviews about Blue Chairs. I heard this club will rip you off. They also told me not to pay with credit cards because they double and triple charge it sometimes. With all that said, I did not expect this place to be as stunning as it was. It’s a rooftop bar with multiple floors. The views themselves are remarkable. Talk about taking my breath away!
Although, at Blue Chairs, I should’ve asked for water. Every drink I got managed to slip between my fingertips and land on the floor. It’s a sure sign you need to stop for the day.
In the next couple of days, I made it a point to work out. I bought a day pass at The Fit Club, located deeper in town. It was only $10 USD per day. Not too bad. I also managed to walk the entire Malecon (The Boardwalk,) take some great images, and see some iconic sites.
If you’re a gay man looking for a great gaycation, the Puerto Vallarta romantic zone, or as they call it, La Zona Romantica is the place to be.
Need some suggestions on what to do in la Zona Romantica that’s gay?
Other than Blue Chairs rooftop bar, they have a beach club. It’s free as long as you’re ordering food or drinks.
You can lounge at Sapphire Ocean Club. This one was not free, but it’s very nice. Prices vary by season, though.
You can check out other gay bars like Blondies or Anonimo.
You can dance the night away at clubs like Industry.
Check out drag shows at The Palm Cabaret.
Or get naught at the bathhouse, Spartacus.
It all depends on what you have in mind. But I know that you will love every bit of it.
