If there’s only one reason we should wear a mask, it’s so we can return to Berlin and experience sexual liberation. In Berlin, sex isn’t just something you do on weekends or before brunch. It’s a statement you make because motherfuckers out there want to put us in a box and label us as faggots, or bull dikes. Sex is bold. Sex is art, and Pornceptual is changing everything we know about sex, one naked party at a time.

Berlin is an edgy city with the artistic freedom to do anything you put your mind to. I do mean anything. This capital city is a pioneer when it comes to forward-thinking, edgy parties, and perhaps even futurism when it comes to sex and gender.

So what is Pornceptual? Pornceptual is a party that happens once a month. I should clarify. Pornceptual used to be a party that happens once a month. However, thanks to our friend Covid-freaking-19 these parties haven’t happened in a quick minute.

Pornceptual is a concept and a party. During these parties, you’re charged according to how many articles of clothes you keep on. It’s also a party that wants to take porn and turn it into art. Regardless of what kind of porn it is, it is artistic. It is beautiful. But it’s more than just that. It’s a celebration of your uniqueness and should be praised.

Pornceptual is Changing Social Behaviors

Since lockdown began, Pornceptual hasn’t been able to have awesome monthly parties, so they’re doing it online with digital strings. They believe it’s essential to keep a strong presence of sexuality and queerness in the world because we shall not be silenced, and I AM ALL FOR IT.

However, Pornceptual is using cyberspace to promote so much more than just sex, gender fluidity, and queerness. It is highlighting flaws in social media. It grabs Instagram by its insecurities and shows the world that people on Instagram are not as perfect as they appear.

Through sex, gender, and sexual orientation it magnifies everyone’s flaws, turning it into our strengths. That’s a mighty, strong, and heroic thing to do.

On May 11th Pornceptual featured an art project by Sophie Steiner, in collaboration with a group that calls themselves CreatedByGirls, aiming to take the insecurities of society and push them to the surface. It exposes certain things we need to make normal now.

All the images in this exhibition include a person and a plexiglass panel that looks like an Instagram mock-up with a few powerful words.

My two favorites include the “FUCK HETEROMATIVITY,” because why is the hetero-norm the norm? It shouldn’t be. I am appalled when the queer community strives to be as hetero as possible. Why do they desire to have a white picket fence? How are we supposed to be queer when we pretend to be a “husband” and a “wife?” Who implemented monogamy as the “standard?” Christianity! That’s who! But most importantly, why should we follow heteronormativity? We shouldn’t.

My second favorite is the one that reads, “I finally feel self-confident enough to post a selfie here.” Because it’s something I personally struggle with. I don’t like the way I look in pictures. Why? Because all of my life, the standard of beauty is white skin, blond hair, and blue eyes. I don’t fit that standard of beauty; therefore, I can’t be beautiful. And although, little by little, I tear away at that structure, I’m sure many other people of color feel the same.

I, too, am finally self-confident enough to post a selfie on Instagram.

I am glad Pornceptual is putting these concepts out there because they need to be talked about and ultimately shattered.

Pornceptual is taking porn and Turning it into Art

Pornceptual is an actual party (during non-covid times and hopefully after covid is over), but it’s also taking porn and turning it into art. It’s a celebration of nudity. It celebrates cock, clits, tits, balls, and anuses (and all the humans that have them.)

Pornceptual is more than that, though. Pornceptual is celebrating people. Whether you’re gay, trans, intersex, Black, Asian, White, Latin, fat, or thin, you are beautiful and celebrated.

Pornceptual is putting masculine women in front of people and showing you that this is great, and guess what, your perception of masculinity is wrong, and you need to accept that.

They’re putting femme men and showing you that your perception of femininity is wrong because that femme guy you rejected is still a man with cock and balls that you can suck. And you should suck it with pride.

So it doesn’t matter if you love getting double-fisted or fuck in a catsuit. It doesn’t matter if you like it soft or hard. You shouldn’t care what people think if you love fucking men and women at the same time because you are unique and perfect just the way you are. Pornceptual is desensitizing the masses one naked party, one digital party at a time.

Even though Pornceptual is a Berlin-based group, Americans need to pay attention because we have a ton of fucking hang-ups, making us weak. We need to stop and think about all the racism in the gay community. You need to think about all that hatred you spew. All the “savage” and “fierce” behavior is total bullshit, and you need to know it because it’s time to come together as a community.

Berlin is making waves. America, you’re falling way behind, and that’s okay. There’s a new leader, and that’s Berlin.

Pornceptual is Creating Community in a Time of Opposition

It’s tough for so many industries right now. The travel industry is hurting. Bars, gyms, and restaurants are not doing so well. Parents, uncles, brothers, and sisters are all in turmoil, thanks to covid-19. All we can do is try and support the organizations we love and cherish.

Designing life (aka me, James) supports as many smaller organizations as I can, and you can too.

These small organizations include travel-related moms and pops—friends who are involved with Indie gay rags. Restaurants owned and operated by families and organizations that strive to make a change like Pornceptual.

It is vital to support these pioneers. Pornceptual is challenging the status quo. They are challenging the racism in porn because black lives matter in the porn industry too.

It’s vital to stick to digital mediums to stay afloat right now, and we are all trying to give it our all.

In any case, their art changes the way we talk about fat, thin, black, Latin, trans, femme, bi, pan, and trans. They’re using the word “cunt” and “faggot” so much that it loses their offensive meaning. When the world seems divided, it’s important to remember that we all have those that will support us. Hope does exist, and we can all pitch in. 

Let me break it down for you:

Berlin is such an incredibly progressive place. With its bars, beer, dance parties, and events like Pornceptual. Pornceptual itself is chaining the world one cock, one clit at a time.

We can learn to make a change by supporting our local organizations and accepting your fellow gay and lesbian neighbors. Realize that we’re all in the same boat. We all suck dick and lick clits, but for some reason, we pretend we don’t. So fuck it. Let’s say it loud and clear “IM IN QUARANTINE, AND WE LOVE TO SUCK DICK.” Now a little louder for the guys in the back.

Berlin is at the forefront of change. They are shoving clits and cock down your throat and not apologizing. We need to wake the fuck up and pay attention. 

Now put on that stupid fucking mask you swear is taking your goddam liberty and wear it proud. 

Stop being a fucking pussy and pretend to like it because the world needs us. Now let’s do our part so we can head back to Berlin (or any other city that makes you love your life.)
