As soon as I found out that Piñata Hotel (in Puerto Vallarta) is open for a smaller happy hour than usual (because of covid), I ran right over. I should mention, Piñata Hotel is a gay, men-only hotel. This means you can feel free to walk naked every day, all day as much as you want.
Before covid, they had a clothing-optional party every Saturday that brought in a hundred locals and tourists alike.
However, Piñata Hotel currently has a happy hour every Thursday, Friday, Saturday, from 5 pm to 7 pm. It’s 200 pesos to enter, and yes, it’s clothing optional.
The 200 pesos gives you access to the happy hour, unlimited margaritas, a towel, and a locker for your belongings. However, all other types of cocktails are not included.
So much has changed since I’ve written this blog post. Get my gay PV 2024 travel guide for updated information, including how their parties are now private and how you can get into them.
Piñata Hotel is Cute and Photogenic
Piñata Hotel is located at Venustiano Carranza 322, Zona Romántica, Emiliano Zapata.
Ringing the doorbell signals the bar staff that you’re here. As I did, a cute, petite guy answers the door and informs me that it’s 200 pesos to enter. I pay and walk-in.
The entrance is cute. Dark tiles line the floors and walls. there’s a beautiful fountain against the wall with a candle at its base. It makes the shadows dance dramatically.
The bartender makes small talk with me and informs me of the locker and free margaritas.
I change into my speedos, put my things in my locker and ask for a margarita.
The bar is inside a beautiful double hight space with great artwork. One side is entirely open. Since I’m the only one here, it feels safe from covid.
There’s a staircase that leads to a loft area behind the bar. It’s the entrance to one of the units.
Pinata Hotel and Amenities
After talking to the bartender, I decided to look around and see everything Piñata Hotel has.
Apart from the bar Piñata Hotel has a nice cold pool. It’s not big, but it’s good enough for you and your friends. The jacuzzi is great and very hot.
I didn’t see the hooks for your towels. I set my things on the ground. When I turned on the jacuzzi, the massive bubbles soaked my belonging. Bad on me.
In other words, don’t forget to hang your towels or place your belongings on one of the nearby chairs.
As I walked the steep steps to the gym, I noticed a nice view of the surrounding areas.
The gym is equipped with weights and machines for all their guests. You don’t have to miss a workout while you’re on vacation.
The hotel itself has eight rooms. It’s cozy. Since its clothing-optional, every guest has the option to walk around as naked as they want. Also, bringing guests over is never a problem.
Thursday Night Happy Hour
I arrived on Thursday for happy hour. I grabbed a margarita and had a great conversation with the bartender. He’s nice and proud of Puerto Vallarta. He gave me a rundown of what he thinks I need to see before I leave.
I grabbed my margarita and decided to sit in the jacuzzi for a while. The suave, smooth electronica paying on the speakers brought me back to times where we could travel freely, a time free of covid.
I sat and enjoyed my surroundings. The Piñata Hotel sign behind me and the ivy growing up the walls in front of me brought me back to the present.
Soon afterward, a handsome redhead walked into the hotel. He sat in the jacuzzi with me. He wore black swim trunks.
We introduced ourselves and chatted about travel, the world, and our plans during our stay in Puerto Vallarta.
His calm demeanor and intellectual nature were enough to make me remember why I love to travel so much. I miss this feeling.
I miss the feeling of possibilities. Perhaps it was his handsomeness, or maybe it was his non-superficial nature that held my attention.
We chatted, and it all came back to me. This is why I travel. This is why I’m here. I want to create a life worth living and remembering.
As we chatted, I couldn’t help but fantasize that in an alternate reality, we would probably go on a date and maybe even fall in love one day.
The truth is, I’m already taken, but that’s what travel is. Travel is flirting with life, and feeling the rush and Piñata Hotel made me feel it again.
As the handsome redhead said his goodbyes’, I couldn’t help but think of that wonderful travel quote: I would stay and love you, but I have to go, this is my station.
It’s true. At this very moment, I fell in love with travel all over again.
Friday Night Happy Hour
I went back for Friday’s happy hour because I wanted to see if things got more lively.
Upon arriving, there was a medium-sized group of men, about seven of them. All white, most of them were thin and beautiful. Most of them had a nice six-pack to show off. Some were in their 20’s others in their 30’s.
Fifty percent of them were naked. They were all show-ers. Their cut cocks hung down perfectly.
I joined them in the jacuzzi, but they were way too interested in discovering which bars played Ru Paul’s Drag Race while they were in town. Their forced witty banter and their loud “GURRRLL” made me grateful for the more genuine moments.
Nevertheless, I chatted with them briefly, and they were all very friendly.
As I grabbed my first margarita for the day, I chatted with the bartender about how he got me drunk the day before. The margaritas he makes are very strong. I had two, and I couldn’t walk after that.
We laughed at my lightweightness, and I decided to call it a night.
It was nice to check out. I enjoyed myself. But it was calm compared to what I’ve been told.
One More Time
I went back one last time to see if there is anything I missed. This Friday evening was attended by interesting and talkative men. There’s something about guys who can hold a conversation that I find attractive and everyone I met tonight was like that. Everyone kept my interest. Not to mention some of the huskier bear types were pretty handsome. Nevertheless, everyone I met was genuinely nice.
Although one of the regulars I spoke to said their Saturday party is off the hook. However, due to covid and off-season, things are very mellow.
So can you get some at Piñata Hotel’s clothing-optional happy hour? Maybe on some occasions but not this time around.
Let me break it down for you:

Piñatas has recently changed ownership. The new owner has changed a lot for the better.
Is Piñata Hotel Clothing optional Happy hour worth checking out? It’s okay, but if you miss it it’s not a big deal. Their happy hour seemed small. The drinks are strong, and the men are sexy. About 50% of them were nude.
During my visits, I encountered men ages 20’s through 50’s. Some were thin others were husky and bear-ish.
Nevertheless, it’s always nice to see a naked man. Although I wouldn’t call it a rager of a party, I still enjoyed myself.
I was told their Saturday parties are fantastic, but they’re not having them now due to covid.
I would say come here and have a couple of drinks and soak that body in the hot tub. Enjoy the atmosphere and make some friends. Perhaps you’ll meet a buddy that you can hang out with during your vacation. Come flirt with life a bit. But I have to say, it’s not a hook-up vibe.
