Listen up gay men. It’s time to [kind of] drop AirBnB and support MisterBandB. I say “kind of” drop AirBnB because it’s a cheap travel option and I believe having options is the way to travel. So lets not stop supporting AirBnB but lets give more love to our Misters at MisterBandB. For this post I give you a MisterBandB review.
If I Can Turn Back Time
Lets back up a bit and start at my whirlwind trip to Las Vegas this last weekend. I was in Vegas for a total of 12 hours… But considering I made a rookie mistake, I didn’t realize I booked a return flight 12 hours later. I seriously thought I was going there for a total of 24 hours. Nevertheless, I looked for hotel options, hostel options, AirBnB options until I finally settled on a room in a house through MisterBandB. If you haven’t read the article where I explain my findings click here to catch up.
Anyway, I signed up for Misterbandb and read a few housing options. Then, I found my perfect place. It was $29 for one room (potentially a shared room) owned by a gay couple.
I read all their reviews. Each one was a 5 star positive rating. The reviews ranted and raved about the couple’s friendliness. Some reviews raved about their amazing hospitality. All of this was great and all, but as a first-timer, I was nervous.
I Booked The Room Instantly
I read their profile and this is what made me book it. To begin with the image they used is a cute one. Both men are handsome. I continued to read and it seems they offer more services than just a room. If you needed a massage they do that as well. If you need manscaping, they’ll trim your body hair… All. Of. It! There is nothing wrong with a little self-love and attention. I thought it was brilliant on their part. Not only is it brilliant but I would be willing to get manscaped and massaged. But can you get massaged and manscaped at the same time? Oh! Decadent. I didn’t ask.
As I read on, their profile said they’re good with nudists and nudity at the household. If you’ve read any of my Berlin blog posts you’ll remember that I am pro-nudity, all the way. You say it’s ok to be naked? I’ll be naked before you finish the sentence. It’s a little raunchy, a little decadent and all fun. Yes. This is the place for me. Maybe they’re nudists and we can all have a gay naked time together.
By this point my mind was racing, imagining scenarios with a naked gay couple. What man doesn’t fantasize about this?
You send a request to book a place on MisterBandB. Then the hosts are given the chance to accept or deny your request. However, you are given a change to talk about yourself and tell them why you’re traveling to their home town and who you are. This is so they’re comfortable renting their house to a serial killer that only kills gay bears and such… HAHA Or perhaps you’re not into letting serial killer types share a room in your place? It gives you a feel for the person, in a good way. To be fair and honest, it was not about sexuality. I booked a room with MisterBandB because it was cheap.
I wrote my email and I got my offer accepted. Done deal!
The entire booking process is simple.
The Day I Arrived
The next day I received a text message from one of the hosts asking if I had an estimated time of arrival. He also wanted to give me more information, like door code, which room was mine, etc.
My Lyft pulls up to the house. I ring the doorbell and pretty much right away they answer the door. They answer in their underwear. It’s the only way to greet a gay guest, in my opinion. This shows you how laid back they are. It also tells you what’s on the playing field. If they’re in underwear should I strip down? The answer is yes. If they’re in their underwear, can I take mine off? The answer is yes. If I’m naked and their in their underwear, can I get a four hand massage? The answer is probably yes. How about more than that?
To be completely honest, I was only there for a couple of hours. However, I did ask the couple what it’s like to host gay men. I was told they love it. They said the sexual tension is amazing. Oh and by the way, I was in a room with two beds, which means sometimes there are two guys in the same room. They told me, often the guys end up hooking up.
The host also told me that he walked in on a naked guest sitting in the living room with his raging hard-on just waiting for a little help.
The Hosts
Both hosts are amazing men. I had a couple of beers with them before my night began. We chatted about food and travel. They gave me a rundown of the gay nightlife in Las Vegas I missed because I was around for 12 hours. They even invited me to a gay pool party the next day. Honestly, I would’ve gone if I didn’t make the stupid mistake of booking the wrong return flight. We also chatted about our gay experiences around the world.
Both hosts are travelers with great stories. We chatted about the gay community and its culture. It made me feel good to bond with people with such positive things to say about the gay community. Many queens out there are self-loathing. There’s enough negativity in the world. MisterBandB made me feel like it’s offsetting the negativity with positive experiences and great gay male role-models.
Although, I didn’t go to Las Vegas to do anything gay. I didn’t think Vegas had a gay scene or even a lively gay scene. Just this experience proved me wrong. Staying in a house with other gay men who respect each other and are friendly and full of love and positivity is what travel is all about. MisterBandB is an organization all gay men should start using.
The Living Quarters
Their place is sparkling clean. They had a couple of well-behaved dogs. Their house was inviting. My room was great. It had everything I needed. The bed was comfortable. I had a reading light. The restroom was steps away. I even had my own gay porn-stash with lube, condoms and a cum rag. This place is for gay men, by gay men.
I left with a sense of new friendship. I definitely want to return just to hang out with them.
Let Me Break It Down For You:
Check out MisterBandB at www.Misterbandb.com
- My room in Vegas was $29 for the night. After fees it was $42.
- My gay hosts were incredible. They were both down-to-Earth awesome men.
- They answered the door in their underwear (give me more!)
- The booking process is easy.
- Built in tour guides.
- They wanted to show me gay Las Vegas!
Although, MisterBandB is still growing, we need our community to stick together on this one. Traveling in a place where there might be homophobia can make or break your trip. This living experience can change all of that.
