Berlin is a city full of history. When history and modern times collide, you get an incredible fusion of art, urban clash, and emotion on a monument like the Berlin Wall.
The Berlin Wall’s East Side Gallery is the city’s longest-standing portion of the wall.
The art is incredible. It ranges from iconic pieces to some graffiti work to abstract pieces everyone will enjoy.
Modern buildings and a booming skyline surround the East Side Gallery.
It’s interesting to see so much new development happening in this area.
The most interesting thing is the new condos going up near the wall itself.
Berlin is starting to explode, which is good and bad.
The city is rich in culture, history, art, and an edgy underground gay scene unlike anywhere in the world. This city attracts many people with its urban beer gardens and grit.
So, naturally, it makes sense that new condo complexes are popping up. But this also means it’s removing some of what makes the city so unique. Anyway, that’s beside the point.
The East Side Gallery is a monument everyone should see at least once.
And once you’re done checking out the art, taking selfies, and sitting on the riverfront as you listen to street musicians sing their beautiful tunes, you can head over to the Mercedez Benz plaza and have a wonderful meal.
Or at least that’s what I did.
Here are a few images I took from the East Side Gallery:
