Dalvay by the Sea review | Luxury Dinning on Prince Edward Island

Dalvay by the Sea is a beautiful and luxurious hotel and restaurant near the beach on Prince Edward Island in Canada. While I was in PEI I decided to make this a stop of mine.

Dalvay by the sea’s lighting is dim. It sports a few lounging rooms. One with dark wood finish and a fireplace for a cozy and romantic evening. Although, this place is only open for the summer and part of fall. It closes during the winter months as you would expect in snowy Canada.

I did not stay here. However, I ate at their restaurant. Their restaurant is high-end. The food is great. It’s pricey you get a lot of food for your dollar. I chose a three course meal and I couldn’t finish it all.

I got the famous muscles from PEI. I love sea food but don’t eat it often enough. They brought out a giant plate of muscles. This plate alone could have been an entrée.

I then ordered the salmon dish. The salmon was buttered up perfectly on a bed of potatoes and veggies. The cute part was their scooped up melon balls. It made the dish flavorful but also different.

The portion sizes were big for a luxury dining place. Impressive, to say the least. By the time dessert came around I couldn’t eat anymore. I decided I needed to share my dessert with my partner. Since he wanted his own dessert I order one and decided to take it home. I ordered a chocolate brownie but I could not eat anymore. I was so full. There was no room left in my stomach for it.

I asked the waitress to pack it up so I can take it home.

Unfortunately I have a habit of always leaving my leftovers at the restaurant. If no one reminds me, I’ll get up and walk away without my bag of leftovers. It happens to me about 90% of the time.

As a side note, the only thing I didn’t like where the mosquitos trying to get my sweet sweet blood.

Let me break it down for you:

  • Luxurious
  • Pricey
  • Decent food
  • Great waiters, very friendly

Do I recommend it? If you’re staying in PEI I think its worth a try. To be completely honest I’ve been to better high-end places but that’s not to say I didn’t like it. I thought it was great. However, its pretty average in terms of what you would expect at a high-end place.

They close for the winter months so check out their website in case you want to go: https://www.dalvaybythesea.com/
