I’ve seen all must see Berlin sites and even unique and hidden gems, but these Berlin hidden gems spark so much interest you may need to see them ASAP!
Therefore, I’ve put together a few Berlin hidden gems that are unique, awesome, urban, and very much the epitome of Berlin.
Here are 7 Berlin hidden gems to put on your list now! And although they’re not so hidden if you live in Berlin, if you’re a tourist, these are some badass sites you might want to see ASAP!
1) Topography of Terror
I thought I’d seen every part of the Berlin Wall. You can see the amazing murals at East Side Gallery or check out the Berlin Wall Memorial.
But did you know there’s an indoor/outdoor in-depth historical museum next door to the East Side Gallery with a large portion of the wall?
The Topography of Terror has a lot of information. The building itself is an old, mostly bombed and destroyed building that used to be the SS Reich Security Main office.
So, if you love history or dark tourism, this is a must see Berlin site. Also, it’s free to enter.

2) Spreepark
How’s an abandoned and creepy amusement park for a must see Berlin site?
This amusement park has gone through some stuff. The history involves a fire that swept through the entire premises.
Then it was condemned, and you could only enter if you jumped the fence. Yes, it was forbidden to enter.
However, the “tourist authority” got wise, and tour groups formed. These groups provided photo-ops, history, and a trusty guide to help you navigate the park safely.
They are currently creating an urban square around the abandoned rides for all to see. But before they open it, you can still book a tour.
Although it’s a little out of the way, the creep factors you get from it all is so worth it. Abandoned and covered in graffiti is the ultimate Berlin experience.
Put this on your list of Berlin hidden gems you need to see, and visit next time you’re in town.
It’s VERY popular now. I’ve been trying to go for years. I just never make it.

3) Teufelsberg
What’s that weird hill with the dome on top of it? It’s called Teufelsberg or Devils Mountain in German.
In the Grunewald area of former West Berlin, Germany, there is an artificial hill called Teufelsberg. It’s about 260 ft above the Teltow plateau and 394 ft above sea level north of Grunewald Forest. They named it after the Devil’s Lake nearby.
It was created using debris and rubble and covers an unfinished Nazi military-technical college called Wehrtechnische Fakultät. During the Cold War, a U.S. listening station called Field Station Berlin was on the hill. Today, you can enter for 10 euros, but it is a hike.
Once there, you’ll notice incredible pieces of graffiti art in a dilapidated and abandoned part of history with views as far as the eye can see. You’ll notice the city of Berlin in the distance.
This place is unique but very Berlin. As far as Berlin’s hidden gems go, this one is on my list to visit soon.

4) Thai Park
Thai Park makes my list, but it’s not hidden by any means. It’s a popular food destination with many booths to try. But I wanted to put it on this list because I NEED TO CHECK IT OUT eventually. And I think everyone needs to know about it.
If you’re a tourist wondering what to do, see and taste in Berlin, check out Thai Park for some scrumptious delights.

5) Yaam
Part Biergarten, part artist colony, part beach club, and part refugee camp, YAAM is a must see Berlin site.
Come here and have some tasty African food. Buy some art made by refugees and drink a beer on the sand. YAAM is also responsible for throwing some amazing concerts throughout the city, and these concerts are often free!
I was impressed when I discovered YAAM.

6) Fleamarket at Mauerpark
I’m not a fan of vintage clothing or fleamarkets. However, I am a fan of inexpensive clothing, independent artists, and urban chaos, and the Fleamarket at Mauerpark looks like a chaotic urban area full of clothes, records, food, and drinks, surrounded by that sweet “dystopian” Berlin setting I love so much.
Disclaimer: I use the word dystopian loosely, as Berlin is not a dystopia. I use it as a descriptive term for me. Berlin makes me feel like I’m walking around a sci-fi dystopian movie set.
In the summer, you can participate in karaoke while enjoying the sunlight and drinking a nice Bier!
7) Dark Matter
When I first started traveling, I visited as many free museums as possible. Now, I. AM. SO. SICK. OF. MUSEUMS.
If Im going to see a museum, it has to be different, weird, unique, and worth my time.
So when I learned about Dark Matter, I knew I had to put this on my list.
Dark Matter is a museum seen entirely in the dark. That’s because it’s all about light installations. And from its looks, it’s pretty incredible.
However, I don’t like that you have to pick a time slot when purchasing your ticket. I want to walk up and buy a ticket. I say that because if you’re out partying in Berlin, you sometimes sleep all day.
