The Millennium Hilton New York Hotel UN Plaza is located at One United Nations Plaza, New York, NY 10017. It’s literally the street before the East River, you can see Long Island from this hotel.
The Millennium Hilton New York Hotel UN Plaza is walking distance to Tudor City, an amazing set of high-rise Tudor buildings on the water front. The interesting thing about this hotel is how isolated it feels. Even though every street in New York City has loads of coffee shops, bakeries, restaurants, bodegas, etc — and this street is no different, The Millennium Hilton New York Hotel UN Plaza feels isolated.
If you’re a New Yorker or come to New York often you probably know that not many parts of the city feel this way. Therefore, you can hide from your everyday hustle and bustle and relax. You can get out of the big city life in this little neighborhood.
I thought it was great, but my little brother (since it was his first time in New York City) wanted to be in the center of it all.

The rooms start at around $150 per night. However, since it was a party of four. We wondered if we should get two rooms or one suite with two bedrooms and two restrooms. After comparing the prices it seemed as though it was the same price. In other words, we thought it would be nice for my mother and little brother to see what a suite looks like. For around $300 per night, we got a great suite.
We were lucky enough to get a corner suite that had both a river view and a city view. It’s stunning. More important to me is the fact that my family can enjoy the big city in an amazing hotel room.
The check-in process is normal. However, the lobby, which was under renovation at the time, definitely looked like it needed it. It reminded me of an old 1980’s lobby. It was somewhat dated, but trust me, I am not complaining.
There’s also two entrances, the main door and a double door that shuts early. My little brother found out the hard way when he tried to go in and couldn’t open the second set of doors only to find out he locked himself in between both sets. The security guard had to let him out once they realized there was someone locked inside.
Since we had a corner room, it was located at the end of the hallway. These big rooms always have too many switches to choose from. There’s a master light switch and regular light switches throughout the hallways, in the restrooms, and in the bedrooms. My confused mother turned off the restroom lights while I was on the toilet at one point.
I have to say, even though the place is pretty big, they tried to fill it with giant, clunky furniture. It worked well. It’s just an interesting design choice.
The Suite
The suite is huge. In fact, I theorize it’s probably bigger than most people’s apartments in Manhattan. It, indeed, has two bedrooms and two bathrooms. There’s a large desk area with a living room, a dinning room set and kitchenette (not really a kitchen but a sink with a microwave, mini fridge, etc.)
The rooms were a decent size. Although, the restrooms were so big it almost seemed disproportionate. The only weird thing I can think of is the weird square toilets. They are awkward to sit on. Not really made for humans, in my opinion. It’s made for Minecraft characters that have square butts.
We had a glass shower and a giant jacuzzi bathtub. My mother and little brother had a smaller restroom. They only had a shower.

Although the hotel felt isolated, there were many things walking distance. We were walking distance to Time Square and Grand Central Station. However, it was terribly humid when we arrived and walking for long periods of time was tough. The subway system in New York City gets so stuffy and hot it’s like walking into an oven. By the time you arrive anywhere you’re covered in sweat.
The Millennium Hilton New York Hotel UN Plaza is a great place to stay. Although it’s a little pricey, for a party of four and a bit of luxury for mom and little brother, I thought it was worth it.
