La Diablesse is a demon. Others say she’s a mythical creature. Nevertheless, she will lure you into the forest and kill you. Although usually, she kills men. She lures them deep into the forests of Trinidad and takes the lives of any men she can get her hands on.
La Diablesse used to be a real person. However, after making a pact with the devil she turned into an ugly hag. Nevertheless, men find her extremely attractive.
From a man’s perspective, her poise, curvy body, beautiful legs, and incredible dress makes her a true beauty.
What they can’t see under her luxurious floppy hat is her ugly distorted face shes hiding.
One long leg is often visible as she walks. The slit in her dress is high enough to show off those legs. She has legs for days.
Often she walks near the side of the road. One leg on the grass and one leg visible. Thats because, La Diablesse has a regular leg and the other has a hoof. Its the curse the devil gave her.
When she appears in the woods, she tricks you and makes you insane. Often men go mad and fall into a river or into a ravine and die.
La Diablesse a True Encounter
La Diablesse / Lajabless is a character in Caribbean folklore. It’s a human woman usually having an attractive body and clothing but a hideous face which she keeps hidden.
She has one human foot and one cow hoof. She lures males into the forest so that they get lost and can never find their way back so they end up dying either by getting eaten by a wild animal or by some other gruesome means.
This happened in Trinidad in the 80s. My uncle was living in the house I live in presently (my grandfather’s house that my mother inherited ).
In those days it was my grandparents and their 8 children. My uncle was one of the older siblings and worked late-night shifts so he would return home between the hours of 11 pm-1 am.
Now my street then wasn’t as developed as it is now. There was a lot of bush and forested area with a few houses scattered in between. My house is about a quarter-mile in & the road wasn’t paved at the time. It was more of a track than a road.
So one night when my uncle returned home from one of his night shifts. He saw in a distance a woman walking down the street. From the look of her clothing, he assumed it was my senile great grandmother. She had a few instances where she would wander off and reach far places so initially, my uncle thought it was her. He saw her familiar dress and the white shawl she always had draped over her head and he could make out pieces of the tattoos she had on her arms.
Now he thought it was strange. It was the latest he’s ever seen her outside. Her house was at least 10 mins away from ours. He called out a couple of times but she didn’t turn around. She kept walking. At this time, my uncle decided to follow her and get her back to her home.
As he neared her he realized something really weird. He kept calling out to her and yet she didn’t turn around. When he looked down he saw that my great grandmother had a cow hoof where her left foot should have been. He was really close to her now but when he noticed it the woman stopped dead in her tracks.
My uncle in sheer terror turned around and said he never ran so fast in his entire life. He raced home.
Since that incident, he always had my grandfather wait for him until he eventually left that job.
