By this point I am so over flying. I cannot believe I’ve been on a plane for 21 hours already. There is one more flight left and it’s from JNB to CPT (Johannesburg to Cape Town.)
Since we are in Business class, we have FastTrack which is equivalent to Priority Boarding. We wait in line and they check our tickets. Once they let us on the plane, my countdown begins. When is this flight over? How long ’til we get there? Are we FUCKING there yet? I cannot wait to get on the ground and reach my final destination.
The Flight
Let’s keep this one brief. I like British Air. This plane is a 737 which means business class is smaller than the pods. It’s basically the same size as the SNA to DFW leg of this trip.
I board the plane. Put my bag in the overhead bin. Sit. I wait for the rest of the passengers to board. The surprising thing about this flight is all the kids coming on board. Is this the Cape Town school bus? I seriously think I counted twenty kids. Each family had 2 or 3 kids with them. Maybe Cape Town is more of a family destination. I am stunned.
Anyway, getting back to the flight. The flight attendant comes around pushing her Champagne on me. So I’m like, “listen lady, I’m 2 days sober today…” and I grab cranberry juice instead. I made that up, I just wanted some cranberry juice because I was not in the mood for any alcohol.
The seats on British Air in business are wide and open. There is plenty of leg space.
The configuration of business class on this plane is different on this flight. It’s one row of two on one side and one row of three on the other side. Also, we didn’t have a screen on each seat this time. It didn’t matter. My head was bobbing up and down and my eye lids are heavy. I just want to sleep.
This fight is short. It’s 2.5 hours to our destination which means they will try to feed us quickly and before you know it you’re on the ground.
The meal service is great! I am very impressed. There are three options to choose from. I ate a Mongolian beef and rice dish. But you could get a wrap or a chicken and mango chutney which looks very good.
The dish also came with a side salad, cheese and crackers and a tiny thing I though was a cookie. It turns out it’s actually a cake bite after stuffing it in my mouth. It’s tasty.
After the meal, I close my eyes for what seems like 3 minutes. It seems sleep is not an option.
I look out the window for the remainder of the time.
I was in first or business class all the way though, which made it nice. No complaints on my end.
However, I gotta say this is the longest I’ve ever flown.
Let Me Break it down for you:
JNB to CPT trip $300
It’s about 2.5 hours long
Their first class is small just wider seating.
This older plane did not have screens to watch movies.
The food is very good though. It’s worth a taste.
PS. I think I’m almost not jet lagged anymore! Yippee!
