Hotel Anya in Paris is the Perfect Budget Friendly Hotel, a Review

Hotel Anya is situated in arrondissement 11, steps away from Voltaire Metro station, which makes it very convenient. Their actual address is 5 Pass. Viallet, 75011 Paris, France.

I booked it because it was less than $100 per night, and that’s a steal in Paris.

The images looked very basic, but basic is all I need. I’ll probably be out all day and night anyway.

Getting there by Metro was super easy, too.

Tip: Let them know when I was arriving, just in case. My arrival at 6 or 7 pm didn’t seem to bother them.

Arriving at Hotel Anya

As I arrived, I was greeted warmly. The man at the front desk asked me if I spoke French, and since I don’t, I always say I speak Spanish and English. He responded by saying his Spanish was better than his English; therefore, we switched to Spanish, and everything went smoothly.

I find that many people in Europe who don’t speak English speak Spanish, which makes it very easy for me to communicate with people. But that’s not always the case. Anyway, I was grateful we could communicate.

He walks me through the keys, my unit, and late-night entrances.

He required a tax payment of $14, but since I had read the fine print when I booked the hotel, I was prepared. I’m sure this bothers a lot of people, but this place was so inexpensive it didn’t bother me.

The Building

Like most things in Paris, the building is tight. The staircase leading up to my unit was a tight spiral staircase.

The doorways were thin. My shoulders almost touched each end of the door frame.

Although it was pretty basic, at one point, I bought some yogurt and needed spoons. I asked the concierge, and they had some for me.

They also have a microwave in the lobby, just in case you need it. It came in handy.

My Hotel Anya Room

The room was small. It was the size of my freshman-year dorm room. But for one person, I think that’s okay.

Hotel Anya Review, my hotel room, cute and small but functional
This hotel room is small but it was perfect just for me.

The light was yellow, and it made the walls yellow. It had a small bedside table, a wardrobe, and a tiny desk.

To my surprise, the bed was full-size, not a twin as I had originally thought. It could sleep two people with ease.

There was a flatscreen on the wall and a tiny washroom/toilet, which was also yellow. Even though it was a European wet room, you basically showered over the toilet. I didn’t mind, though. I knew what I was getting into.

The wifi was a plus. It was strong.

The wet room at Hotel Anya was small but good enough for me and perfect for the budget traveler.

The only thing they didn’t have was a kettle for coffee or tea in my room. I would exchange the TV for a kettle any day. Perhaps they had one in the lobby, but I didn’t ask. I was happy going to a cafe and exploring the area with my tastebuds.

Another negative was the radiator. It was always on, and I couldn’t turn it off. I understand Paris is getting cold, but I don’t need to constantly roast. So, I kept the window open at all times of the day.

You basically shower over the toilet, but as long as it’s inexpensive and I have a shower…

It also lacked an AC unit. I didn’t need it, but I am mentioning it because if you’re thinking of staying here for the hot, sweaty summers, it might not be a good idea. But sometimes, a bargain is a bargain.

Would I book it again? Yes. Just not in the summer. It worked well for me during this cold visit.

Let’s Break it Down:

Basic hotel rooms are the ones I like since we barely spend time in the hotel, just to sleep. Love the staircase!
