American Airlines Lounges Changed its Rules Again!

About two weeks ago, I was at the Admirals lounge in Los Angeles International Airport, and I was pleasantly surprised that they were open but operating very well. Social distancing practices were at hand, and they passed out bags full of great snacks to eat inside and take on the plane.

All of that has changed, and as of early November of 2020, new covid measures in Los Angeles meant new rules to follow in the lounges.

So What Has Changed inside the American Air Lounges?

Well, they’ve closed out the eating area. You can still get food and snacks, but only AA employees are allowed to grab food for you.

If you want coffee or food, you walk up to the roped-off section. An employee will ask if you want anything in particular. Let them know what you need. They will place everything in a bag for you, including utensils and napkins.

If you’re interested in a coffee or tea, they will also pour it for you.

The main difference here is you are not allowed to eat inside the lounge anymore. Everyone is required to have a mask on at all times.

The only exception is when you’re drinking.

In other words, take that food outside or eat it on the plane.

I heard a couple of people complaining that it wasn’t fair. I suppose it sucks if you purchase a business class ticket just for the lounge and then realize you’re not allowed to eat.

But, I hope that these extreme measures help reduce the amount of covid-19 spread.

Anyway, keep this in mind next time you’re heading to the Admirals Club.

Let me break it down for you:

Admirals Club lounges changed its rules in early November. You are not allowed to eat inside the lounge anymore. They will still give you bags of snacks to go, but you must eat it outside.
