Minute Suites Review | Hotel Rooms BEHIND Airport Security!

Check this out, guys. I rented a room, behind security, at the Philadelphia Airport for a couple of hours to sleep in between flights. It was so cheap too. They’re called the Minute Suites, and they’re a newish thing, popping up at different airports nearby.

Ok, lets back up a bit. I’m headed to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. But, since I’m traveling with my partner, we decided to pick up his aunt in Montreal, Quebec.

From Los Angeles, Montreal is at the opposite end. But it makes for a more exciting voyage and overall adventure.

Minute Suites for My First Leg of the Trip

So we take a flight from LAX (Los Angeles International Airport) to PHL (Philadelphia.) It’s a red-eye.

Even though I was seated in business class, in a pod, the flight itself was about 4.5 hours. I fell asleep for two hours before we landed at 6 am. Thank god I had the Minute Suites booked.

What are the Minute Suites

Minute Suites are small pod hotels inside airports. They’re located, literally inside the terminals. Therefore you can rent a room for two hours, take a nap if you have a long layover, and head to your connecting flight.

The first one opened in 2009 at Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport by a group of wellness professionals trying to deliver something healthy to the rough hustle and bustle life of the business traveler.

At the moment, they only have a few locations, but their popularity is skyrocketing. They currently have five locations. You’ll currently find them in Atlanta Airport, Dallas Fort Worth, Charlotte Douglass International Airport and Philadelphia International Airport. However, they now have contracts to double in size in the next year or so.

Prices for Minute Suites

I got a deal when I stayed. But, let me tell you what the regular prices are. If you’re looking to stay per hour, its $42 per hour.

If you pay for two hours, it’s $84, but afterward, they charge you every 15 minutes. It’s $8 per 15 minutes after your first two hours.

You can purchase an all night Minute Suite for 8 hours for a $155 flat rate.

How did I get a Deal?

I have Priority Pass. Although this might need to be another blog post, Priority Pass is an airline lounge club. The pass gets you into airline lounges with food, beverage service, and a certain amount of exclusivity. It’s great if you’re always on the go.

The comforter. Bad picture I know… But I needed the flash in this case.

Minute Suites and Priority Pass teamed up to give its customers a great deal. To start, the first hour is free. Then its $28 per hour afterward.

Initially wanted four hours of sleep time. By the time I landed, de-boarded my flight, and got to the Minute Suites, I only had three hours before I needed to catch my flight from Philadelphia to Montreal.

In other words, I got my first free hour then paid $28 per hour after that, for a total of two hours. In other words, my three hours were a total of $56.

That’s a bargain for a great nap and refreshing start to your day if you ask me.

My Experience at Minute Suites

I walk up to the Minute Suites concierge. They scan my Priority Pass card and walk me to my room. They briefly explain the room and turn on a white noise machine that cancels out any noise from the outside.

The concierge is very professional and curious. It’s always something that sticks with me when I travel.

Already, this is great.

The bed is basically a leather sofa that pulls out from the bottom to make it into a full-size bed. Since I am traveling with my partner, we each had our own platform to sleep on.

The bed inside the suite. The bottom portion pulls out from under the sofa part. That’s where I slept.

They provided comforters and pillows, as well.

This tiny room has everything you need. There’s a desk space with a large flat-screen TV that turns into a computer and phone. It’s a well-designed office.

It also has a mini-fridge and a basket of snacks you can purchase if you’re thirsty and such. I opted for a sports drink because I was thirsty as all hell.

Considering I needed to work for a bit, my partner fell asleep right away as I worked on my laptop for about an hour.

I then set my alarm and pulled the comforter over me and passed out deeply. I needed that extra couple of hours of sleep.

The Minute Suites don’t have a restroom located within the suites. The toilets you use are the airport restrooms. However, they do have showers installed in case you just need a shower.

I am so impressed by this great deal I feel I needed to write about my experience for everyone. I firmly believe this is an excellent option for everyone who travels continuously.

It’s also an alternative to the airport lounges.

My experience was great. I am sure Minute Suites will expand enormously soon.

Let me break it down for you:

Minute Suites are little pod hotels inside the airports. They’re behind security, so you don’t have to check in again for your next flight after your nap.

The room I had was big enough for two people. It has a desk space with a giant flat-screen TV.

There is a basket with snacks and a stocked mini-fridge if you want to pay for snacks while you’re here.

It’s $42 per hour, but if you have Priority Pass, your first hour is free, and every hour after that is $28.

They have a white noise machine that cancels noise coming from the airport.

It’s absolutely perfect if you’re trying to sleep between flights and you don’t want to sleep on the airport floor, like the good ol’ backpacking days.

Currently, they’re located in Dallas Fort Worth Airport, Charlotte Douglas Airport, Atlanta International, and Philadelphia.

However, they are in the process of expanding.

Those Minutes Suites are AMESOME! I used my Priority Pass last year and slept like a baby in one of those suites for two hours before my connecting flight to Amsterdam. Def worthy the extra $28 per hour (with the PP of course). Are you in Brazil already?
